Introducing Katie!

For Katie's photo session, we started at Quarry Hill Park for pictures in her traditional German dress, a dirndl, then headed to Downtown Rochester. There we took some awesome shots in her black dress in front of the Mayo Civic Center and on Historic Third Street. We later paired her dress with a big floppy hat and some sunglasses which made for a total fashionista look. We also spent some time in the alley behind "Crave" for some great images in her tattered black denim pants which were paired with a gray "World Kindness Festival" t-shirt. Her final outfit was a darling blue dress adorned with a pattern of red cherries. So cute and fun; it was perfect for the location! Enjoy reading Katie's thoughts below about her senior session and what she enjoyed the most! ~Kathleen, principal photographer and owner of Kathleen Murphy Photography.

What Surprised you about the photoshoot?

Something that surprised me about the shoot was how good Kathleen was able to make me look. I've never been super photogenic and I was nervous that I would hate every single photo, but she did such a good job that my jaw was on the floor when the photos finally came out. It was almost as though I was looking at someone completely different.

What are your favorite images from the session?

The photos from the shoot that I loved most were the ones I had in my black dress with the floppy hat, because I feel like it captured the image of the "fashionista" that the little girl in me always wanted to be growing up.

What is a Fashion Rule You Never Break?

A fashion rule that I personally never break is "never wear socks with heels."

What was your favorite memory of the session?

My favorite part was when we were downtown around the busy streets because I got to show off this awesome dress that made me look incredible. Also having my sister and Cora there with Kathleen made me feel a lot more comfortable with doing the photoshoot in such a public space.

What Advice Would You Give To An Upcoming Senior?

Some advice that I would give to someone who's getting their photos done is no matter what, since it's being taken by a professional it's going to look amazing, and anything that you might not like about the photos can easily be fixed with a little technology. The photos are all about you and therefore will always look good. Also, try some poses/outfits that might be outside your comfort zone because honestly that's how you make the pictures shine.
