Am I the right fit for you?
Choosing the right photographer for your Senior pictures is important. If you have confidence in your photographer, you will feel more secure and confident in front of the camera. And confidence translates into some beautiful images. When choosing a qualified photographer it is important to look for style and experience. Does their style appeal to you? Do they have a "look" about their images that you really gravitate towards? Do they have the experience necessary to reproduce the quality images you want? Do they offer quality heirloom products that stand the test of time? And of course, do they offer the digitals you love for social media? Does your potential photographer's personality seem like a good fit for you? Some good qualities to look for in a photographer are dependability, good interpersonal skills, patience and optimism. And importantly, do they book a limited number of sessions so that they can give their clients the care and attention they deserve? If so, then you may have found the perfect photographer! My core beliefs illustrated below, center around the beliefs I have about what it takes to create images that are both memorable and timeless, yet uniquely tell your story.
I believe.....
Step One-Schedule a Consultation:
Do I need to prepare?
At this consultation, we will discuss your idea of the "perfect" senior session. Show me all your ideas, but if you are not sure how to articulate them, or need some ideas, don't worry! I have years of experience collaborating with seniors to pick out wardrobe pieces, locations and help make styling arrangements. Together we will come up with a solid plan before your session. I promise the planning will be so fun and you will leave excited to get started! Click HERE to schedule your in person consultation.
Step Two-Book Your Session:
Book Early!
Booking Early doesn't mean you have to have your session early, it just means you need to get on my calendar early. I book a limited number of seniors between June and October and rarely photograph in November due to weather. So get on my books at least two months in advance.
Did you know that I only photograph one senior a day? That way I can give you individualized attention As soon as you book, I will close all other open time slots for that date. After your consultation, I will send you a link or you can book your session by clicking HERE.
Step Three-Start Prepping:
What do I need to do?
No worries, you will receive plenty of prep materials to make sure that you are camera ready! You will also have access to our client hub for even more pointers. Now is the time to select your wardrobe, book your hair, makeup and nail appointments to make sure that you are camera ready!
Step Four-Your Session
What to Bring:
Today is the day! You will have so much fun and we will be sure to keep everything relaxed and enjoyable focusing on bringing our your authentic self! Bring your smile and your sense of adventure! And don't worry about what to bring, I will send you a check list so you know what to bring to your session.
Step Five-Your Ordering Appointment
How do I select my final images?
About two weeks after your session, you will be invited to view your gallery. Once we have gone over all your images, you can create your own collection. First, choose one (or more) art products such as an heirloom album or a quality wall hanging. Then choose your digital images. Do you want small or large? Small files are printable up to an 8x10 and great for social media. Large files are printable up to a 20x30 and also come with the companion social media file. My job at this appointment is to serve as a guide to help you figure out what the product(s) will best display your images.

FAQ

I am located in Rochester, Minnesota. I have photographed seniors from Century, John Marshall, Lourdes and Mayo High Schools. I am also available to clients in the surrounding areas of: Byron, Kasson, Mantorville, Dover-Eyota, Pine Island, Stewartville, Chatfield, Plainview, Oronoco, Austin, Winona, and Lake City. How do I schedule a photo session with you?
Simple! Just click on the "Contact Button" below and fill out the contact form. I will send the necessary information plus a link to my calendar for a consultation. That way you can see if I am the right photographer for you!
Do you photograph guys?
Yes, absolutely! I am a boy mom and I have got you covered. You will be in good company as I have photographed thespians, track stars, soccer players, band and orchestra members, and even two homecoming kings. I have photographed future architects and scientists as well.
How many pictures will we select from?
Usually, your gallery will have about 40-60 images to choose from.
How soon will I see my images after my photo session?
When your gallery is ready, you will be asked to schedule a photo ordering appointment. This appointment takes place at my home office usually within two weeks after your session. At this appointment, you will see all your presented images and I will help you narrow them down to your favorites. I will also help you choose prints and products that will best display your beautiful images in your home. Heirlooms albums, wall portraits, and quality prints are just some of the specialty items offered. I also offer digitals for purchase.
Do you recommend professional Hair and Makeup?
Yes, I absolutely do. Even if you don’t wear a lot of makeup this is a something I would recommend. Most of the makeup artists I recommend can do a natural makeup that looks polished, yet effortless. They can also do a very bold makeup that looks like it comes out of Vogue magazine. For on trend or classic hairstyles including updo’s that are AmAziNg, I highly recommend Jodi Lynn Passow of LaSata Salon and Day Spa. She is a masterful artist when it comes to hairstyles. You will leave feeling confident and camera ready! If you would prefer to do your own hair and makeup, let me know as there are certain powders that are not good for flash photography and will cause distortion in your images.
Do you have recommendations to help guys get camera ready?
Good grooming is essential! You may prefer to take care of it yourself or see your barber/hairstylist. Either way, a five o’clock shadow or beard can be your look and then you can shave mid-session to achieve another look. Just make sure you are camera ready by attending to the details. If you are going to go for the clean-shaven look, make sure you get all the stray hairs. If you are going for the scruffy five o’clock shadow, that is awesome, just make sure it looks intentional.
What if there is bad weather the day of my session?
I ask for your cell number so I can call or text you with updates on the weather as it relates to your session. I keep a very close eye on the weather and will be in contact with you if we need to cancel. Usually, I only cancel if there is more than a 50% chance of rain. Often, it will clear up in time for the session. As a boutique studio that offers personalized service, I book a limited number of sessions so that I have the flexibility to reschedule. Rescheduling is also a good idea in extreme temperatures, or if the wind is blowing more than 20mph. With a windy day, every picture of you will have hair blowing over your face, which is not ideal! Furthermore, my equipment could easily get damaged by being blown over.
Who can come to my session?
A parent or guardian is required to be present at your session. If you would like a friend to come too that is fine! Having your BFF is often a great idea as they often bring out the most natural laughter! I am sure that it is all those private jokes you share! They can also serve as your wardrobe stylist making sure everything is in place.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, I love dogs!!! But since the session will last longer than the dog will want to stay, make sure that you bring someone who can take your dog home after we get a few shots. Or we can photograph your dog with you in your yard before heading out to the next location.
Can I bring my cat?
Yes, of course! Cats are amazing! Cats generally pose best when they can stay close to home. So we can photograph you holding your cat in your yard or on your front porch and then we can deliver them safely indoors before heading to our next location.
How long is a session and how much is your session fee?
I offer a full-service editorial session for $325. This editorial session is up to 3 hours and flexibility to allow for multiple in town locations and clothing changes. Included in the session fee is basic retouching on all the prints you order, (complex retouching is subject to an extra fee), the culling of images down to the very best ones, a yearbook sized digital file for your school, a style consultation, as well as access to styling closet that includes, hats, dresses, rompers, gowns, shoes, etc..
Important Considerations...
Because I value my senior clients and pride myself on delivering a quality experience through individualized care and attention, I book a limited number of senior sessions each year. Once my calendar is full, interested seniors may ask to go on a waiting list.
