So What is a Senior Session Like?

Soooo. Much. Fun!

Behind the scenes in the truest definition is when something is away from the public view or secret.  So let's take some of the mystery out of a senior session! That when you book your photo-shoot you can be confident that you will be prepared and have a great time!

You should know that first and foremost, I strive to make your photo session comfortable and relaxed! That is my number one priority. And because of that, I only accept one appointment a day. This way, I am focusing ONLY on YOU!

Typically, a photo session runs smoothly because you and I will have already arranged for all the important details regarding location, clothing, lighting, and style ahead of time. That makes it easy for me to focus on the actual mission of the day: capturing fantastic images of you!

This session was all about the smiles and the music. We were lucky enough to have a great concert in the park just behind us!

You Can't Control The Weather...

But Sometimes... You Can Wait it Out!

For Sydney's shoot, it began POURING down RAIN as soon as we reached the first location. A HUGE bummer! But we made a plan. We texted one another while staying dry in our cars. We watched the radar and decided that we would wait about 20 minutes to see if it would pass. It was the best decision ever, because the pay off was this beautiful rainbow! Her mom, Heidi was extraordinary! She jumped right into stylist mode and helped Sydney get camera ready before the rainbow left.

Behind the scenes: This rainbow came out and left rather quickly, so it was helpful to have Sydney's mom, Heidi, make some last minute adjustments for the perfect shot!

What a gorgeous rainbow for Sydney's Senior session!

Best laid plans...

No matter how well planned we are, there can be occasional "hiccups" to the process of getting those great images.

In this case, Mary, (pictured below), who had her hair and make up professionally done, (something I highly recommend), had a rare occurrence of her false eyelashes begin to separate from their original application spot. Even when applied expertly, heat and humidity can cause lashes to begin to peel away. We were only 30 minutes into our shoot when we had to stop and fix her errant lashes. Sadly, they were not holding. But thankfully, her dad quickly drove to meet us downtown with a tube of eyelash adhesive!  Mary's mom, Lori, is seen below getting ready to apply the adhesive to the wayward lashes and moments later, we are back in business!  Because little setbacks like this can happen, it is a good idea to bring a bag of emergency supplies. (eyelash adhesive, powder, lipliner, lipstick, baby wipes, comb/brush, safety pins, etc...)

Makeup Artist and Stylists

Having a makeup artist on location is a fantastic way to ensure that your makeup stays fresh. If you have your makeup and hair professionally done, you can ask your stylist if they are able to go on location. Most charge a fee that is appropriate for the work they do and it is well worth it! There is nothing better than having a stylist and makeup artist on location! Touch ups in between takes really make a difference! If that is not an option for you, many of my senior clients often bring their BFF and they help with the styling, making sure everything is perfect!

In this behind the scenes shot, we were scrambling to get the light of the sunset on the building in the distance, before the sun set behind some tall buildings downtown. We had to wait for joggers and cyclists to pass in between shots. But in the end we had fun, and the images were exactly what we were wanting! (See below).
