Mandy, class of 2021 Mayo High School was such a delightful person to work with! Her session was to include the Plummer House, but unfortunately, it was unexpectedly closed the day of her session. But Mandy swiftly adjusted, and we had the best time at our new location: downtown Rochester! Mandy came prepared with a terrific wardrobe, including a cute floral romper, a pair of jeans with a geometric blouse. (french tucked) and a pair of black ballet flats. Later, during the second half of the session, Mandy changed into some fabulous blue overalls and a pink top with lace sleeves. She ended her session in a beautiful mustard colored romper with butterfly sleeves. Her outfits coupled with her poses and dynamite smile made for some fabulous images! I asked Mandy to react to her session by answering a few questions and picking some of her favorite images. I hope you enjoy seeing her pictures and reading her responses. ~Kathleen

What were you favorite images from the session and why?

The images with my pink top and the denim overalls. My senior session was special because my aunt (who used to work at Rocco Altobelli) took the time to do my hair and makeup, and she had mentioned to me that in her own senior pictures, she wore denim overalls and a pink top. That was the inspiration for this outfit, which was also probably my favorite, and these images are like an homage to her.

Location, Location, Location!

What did you love best about your location?

I really love how downtown Rochester isn't very big but has so many different settings and great places to take pictures! Walking from place to place during my session, I noticed how every corner seemed to be full of activity of some sort and had something beautiful to offer, and it was cool to be able to take my senior photos in locations that often reminded me of my childhood and/or very important memories.

Advice for Seniors:

What advice do you have for upcoming seniors regarding their senior photo session?

Don't be afraid to be yourself. Sometimes there is a lot of pressure to make things look incredibly polished and perfect because of how important senior photos can be, but it's also a time to document the person you've become, so wear outfits that make you feel good and feel free to make poses your own!

If you knew someone was nervous about their senior photos, what advice would you give them?

Don't be too hard on yourself if you're feeling nervous or awkward! Most people aren't used to being in front of a camera, and especially being candid at the same time, and Kathleen is very understanding. She was reassuring throughout the entirety of my session, and really helped me open up by being understanding and supportive.
